Smart Wireless Bluetooth speakers are taking the market by storm thanks to the surge in sales of smartphones and tablets. Design

Onyx Studio 3 has rounded design similar to the Onyx Studio 2 with a diameter of about 28cm, 13cm thickness, and metal legs with rubber cushion. The bottom base of the speaker has been designed in such a way that when placed, the speaker always upward at an angle of 30 degrees. This design helps transmit the sound further easily.

Front of the Harman Kardon Onyx 3 is covered by a hard cloth shield with the glossy Harman Kardon logo. You can easily remove this cover to see the internal structure. Back portion of the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 3 Bluetooth speaker includes sealed enclosure with powered bass drivers, using passive radiators and tuned port design to increased bass quality. 8

To clear up, the Harman Kardon Studio 3 utilizes two 4″ tweeters and two woofers with the total capacity of up to 60W. Which brings fairly wide range experience, powerful bass, and it filled the entire room with quality sound.

Added to this is a gorgeous touch-sensitive control panel that lights up every time you turn it on. The control panel on this Harman Kardon Onyx Studio Wireless Bluetooth Speaker is very sensitive and reacts to the slightest of touches. Around the rim is the power, volume up/down, call button to receive calls through connected devices using Bluetooth connectivity. It does look really cool. 7

This speaker also has a micro USB port which will allow you to connect your devices directly if you don’t want to use Bluetooth for playing your music, and it can also be used for software updates. There is also an auxiliary port and power port to charge the battery. It has an integrated microphone to filter noise reduction and ability to deliver clear sound, and stable communication.

Experience

The Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 3 is compatible with all Bluetooth-enabled devices running iOS, Android, or Windows Phones. Connectivity is very simple, just connect to your Bluetooth powered devices that can play music. There is an app that you can use with this device, and connect two speakers at the same time to bring surround sound experience. 6

The dual sound feature when you pair two of these Bluetooth speakers together is absolutely insane. It is so loud and the bass is incredible without drowning out the mids and highs. The sound quality is just as good if not better and the long awaited feature of linking 2 of these speaks together does not disappoint.

Generally, users often have thoughts that Bluetooth streams audio at a lower quality and over less distance than Wi-Fi-based technologies. But with Bluetooth 3.0 and A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) technology on Onyx Studio 3, users will no longer suspicious about the sound quality of this Bluetooth speaker. 5

This speaker really does sound great, specifically for a room with an area coverage from 30 to 40 square meters, you can clearly recognize the single beat of every instrument. With 2600mAh battery capacity, Harman Onyx Studio 3 can continuously play music for up to 5 hours at an average volume level. The battery juice will drain faster at full volume level.

Cons

In addition to his strengths that outlined above, there are also a few cons in Onyx 3 Speaker that I personally feel to mention here. The first point lies in its base design, overall design of the Onyx Studio 3 is eye-catching, but the base seems a bit small compared to its diameter up to 28cm, which I felt a slightly unsafe.

Final line

Priced at $149.95 exclusively at Amazon.com (Harmon Kardon’s official website is selling the Onyx Studio 3 for $449.94), the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 3 is an expensive proposition. Much improved than the Onyx Studio 2, your primary concern is a good experience when listening your favorite music, then you can feel free to go ahead and pick up the Onyx Studio 3.
