Along with the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL smartphones, Google also announced the Nest Hub Max, the new smart display. This is a real improvement of the Google Home Hub (now renamed to the Nest Hub), the predecessor made official last October.
Unlike what is proposed on the Nest Hub, the Max variant is equipped with a larger HD display (from 7 inches of Nest Hub to 10″ of the Max), a Nest video camera integrated with a wide-angle lens that can be used for numerous features including:
- Google Duo video calls
- Video surveillance functionality
- Receive a notification on your smartphone if the camera detects movement
- Pause a video or music being played through a simple gestural hand movement
- Face Match: a new feature will allow the Nest Hub Max to show only the information of that particular user (calendar, weather and more)
At the top of the body – next to the camera sensor – there will be a small green colored LED light will quickly indicate the “active” status of the video camera and microphone. In addition, you have multiple controls to disable camera features like Nest Cam, including a hardware switch that lets you physically disable the microphone and camera.
Thanks to the large 10-inch large display, Google Hub will also be possible to use it as a real Kitchen TV thanks to a subscription to YouTube TV, so you can follow recipes in real time, play music, and more. You can also check who is in front of the door thanks to the integration with Nest, Google Home, and other compatible products. A digital frame for playing images on Google Photos
Google Nest Hub Max will be available exclusively in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia at a price of $249.
