Garmin has announced the brand new tactix Delta, a sports GPS smartwatch equipped with numerous technologies and features that make it a high-end product, able to accompany sportsmen in any situation and with maximum respect for privacy.
The list price is indicative of the band to which it belongs since we are talking about $899.99, against which we bring home a device that conforms to the military resistance standard MIL-STD-810, protected by a sapphire glass – under which we find a 1.4″ 280 x 280 display and a diamond-coated carbon steel frame. The dimensions are 51 x 51 x 14.9 mm and the weight is 97 grams (with the strap).
We mentioned respect for privacy as tactix Delta GPS tracker is equipped with a new stealth mode that blocks the collection and storage of data relating to the user’s location. Not only; these Garmin GPS devices are also equipped with a kill switch that can immediately restore internal memory. It also received the Stealth Mode, which disables the recording and transmission of information, which is not so new for Garmin, they are already used in the Instinct Tactical Edition and MARQ Commander.
There is also a new system that allows the user to view data on his position using two sets of coordinates at a time. Among the new features we point out the Jumpmaster mode – useful for monitoring parachuting activity – and the presence of topographic and ski maps, an altimeter with a barometer, compass and many other systems to accurately determine the position in the sky.
The new software also integrates the Power Manager function that allows you to better manage the energy consumption of the watch, going to disable the sensors that are not needed. The battery declared by Garmin is 21 days in smartwatch mode and 80 days if you use energy-saving and watch mode. The residual charge can also be displayed in hours and days (as well as in percentage) so that the next recharge can be programmed more precisely.
Finally, Garmin tactix Delta also includes the classic systems that allow you to track physical activity, assess the level of VO2 and the new PacePro function. This allows you to keep track of the rhythm with which you train over time, so as to offer advice on how to continue to achieve the objectives set. There is also a real-time analysis that allows the sportsman to understand if he is early or late in achieving the goals.
Among the other functions of the new GPS smartwatch, we find the possibility to save up to 2,000 songs in the internal memory of the 32GB watch, support for Garmin Pay, the classic management of notifications of the paired devices and the possibility to use it in combination with other Garmin accessories like inReach Mini and Astro 430.
