Gamescom 2017: Age of Empires IV and Definitive Edition Announced

Age of Empires anniversary livestream to celebrate twenty years at Gamescom 2017, Microsoft and Relic Entertainment announced the fourth chapter of the series alongside the Age of Empires IV trailer.

Age of Empires IV

Many details have not been revealed, but we know that Age of Empires IV is under development at the relic entertainment, a team that created Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War and Company of Heroes. There will be a unique feature for Windows 10 PCs and the trailer includes several civilizations: Romans, Native Americans, the British, and the Japanese, which likely confirms they will all be present in Age of Empires IV in some form.

Additionally, Microsoft also announced that Age of Empires II and III will be republished as Age of Empires: Definitive Edition. Even in this case, the information is also less, however, the two remastered versions will surely be treated the same as the Definitive Edition of the first chapter.

The two titles will be characterized by a number of visual improvements, a remastered soundtrack, and more fluid gameplay. No information about the exact release date, however, we are confident that new details will out in the coming days.
