It could be a great news even if is considered as a rumor or beta test and not as a done thing. We talk about the Android Oreo update for Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5. All these are excellent smartphones, with good hardware and that in theory could easily handle the latest Android Oreo update.
However, as always when smartphones exceed 24 months, it is virtually impossible to talk about important updates for it and at the limit can get security patches for some lucky devices. However, T-Mobile seems to be fairly confident and on its website’s support page talks about Android Oreo update for the two Galaxy devices, but it seems that the test phase has even already ended.
So it almost seems like something done. But there is one important thing to note that the update is from T-Mobile and it is not to be excluded, it is very likely indeed, that it was developed in collaboration with the operator under the same request of T-Mobile. This would exclude a global spread of the Oreo update on all Galaxy S6 and Note 5.
The good news is that it will probably be possible to develop customized updates from XDA and similar based on the official T-Mobile Oreo update, which can be installed on all S6 series and Note 5.
So, if everything will be successful with Oreo for the S6 family, we would talk about three different software distributions.
