Fossil continues to pursue its goal, namely that it wants to release more than 300 smart wearables throughout 2017, and following this Fossil Gen 3 smartwatches with Android Wear 2.0 operating system have been announced – Fossil Q Explorist and Q Venture.
Both new Fossil Gen 3 smart watches share many features of the previous editions, from an aesthetic point of view, both come with round stainless steel housing and interchangeable straps, as well as similar hardware.
Both include the classic Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. For connectivity, both support Bluetooth 4.1 LE and WiFi modules. Very interesting to note the presence of the light sensor (disappeared in the second generation) this time available in this series, in addition to the accelerometer and gyroscope.
The Fossil Q Venture is the most compact of the two with a diameter size of 42 mm, a thickness of 11 mm, 18 mm straps and a single physical button used to access the menu. The Fossil Q Explorist, on the other hand, is the most interesting since it has a slightly more generous chassis and incorporates a microphone and a speaker, perfect for hands-free calls, as well as three side physical buttons, two of which can be customized via settings.
We recall that both new Fossil Smartwatches monitors physical activity, and receive notifications such as Social Media, Text, Email, App Alerts, Multiple Time Zones, Alarm Clock, and Calendar Alerts. Both are compatible with both Android and iOS platforms and are IP67 certified, so water and dust resistant.
Currently, both are available for pre-order on its official website, with shipments starting from August 27 for the Q Venture pricing starts from $255 and September 24 for the Q Explorist price starting from $255, which is also listed on Amazon store in Smoke Stainless Steel, Brown Leather, Stainless Steel, and Luggage Leather options.
