Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote finally lands in UK

Amazon UK, finally unveiled a new Fire TV Stick with an Alexa-enabled voice remote for £39.99. Additionally, to launching the new Fire TV Stick in the UK, Amazon also announced a software update that will bring Alexa to all Fire TV devices in the UK. It will roll out to all users over the coming weeks.

In the UK and Germany, Fire TV is already the best-selling streaming media box on Amazon, and the company excited to be bringing their fastest-selling Amazon device ever – Fire TV Stick with Alexa voice remote – to the UK.

It provides access to Amazon Instant Video in Full HD (1080p) video at 60fps as well as other services including Netflix, Hulu Plus, WatchESPN and NBA Game Time. It can also “mirror” content from tablet computers and smartphones. When compared to Chromecast, Amazon claims its device has more processing power and memory than Chromecast as well as other similar devices like Roku.

A new update will upgrade every existing Fire TV Voice Remote to an Alexa Voice Remote, which means all customers will be able to use the digital assistant to control the older Amazon’s media streamer. It can be plugged into any TV’s HDMI port and turn it into an Android TV over WiFi with improved Alexa Voice Remote search functionality.

New Fire TV Stick with Voice Remote now supports more powerful a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor from MediaTek, coupled with a Mal-i450 MP4 GPU and 1GB of RAM. It packs 8GB of native storage space and supports Dolby Audio and 5.1 surround sound system.
