FiiO is a Chinese brand which famous to manufacture high-end audio products. It is best known for its portable HiFi audio players but also develops amplifiers, headphones, and DACs. And now the company’s latest music player is the FiiO M7, which comes equipped with the Samsung Exynos 7270 processor.
One of Samsung’s goals for this year is to have its Exynos processor used in more devices, and it seems that smartphones are not the only devices the company has in mind. The Exynos 7270 14nm chipset to the Exynos 7 Dual series and is an example of Samsung’s SiP-ePoP package.
This means that the processor also includes DRAM memory, eMMC, and IC power management. All of these components are squeezed in a 10 x 10 mm space, resulting in a 30% reduction in size with a 20% gain in power efficiency compared to previous generation chips. The processor was initially designed for smartwatches to provide a longer life without increasing battery capacity and making the watch thicker, but now the technology has found a way to use it in an audio player.
About FiiO M7 specifications, it comes equipped with a 3.2-inch display with 480 x 800 pixels. The processor is 1.0GHz with 2GB of storage. There is a microSD expansion slot that allows you to add more 512GB of storage. The audio player has an ES9018Q2C DAC, LDAC, and has support for DSD audio. It also features FM radio and USB audio support. For connectivity, there is a USB-C and Bluetooth 4.2 port (aptX and aptX-HD).
There is no mention of battery capacity, but FiiO says the M7 can last up to 20 hours on a single charge and 40 days in standby mode. The Fiio M7 was not officially released yet, so there is no pricing and availability information as of now.
