A new generation modular design format – allows users to easily remove and upgrade the inside parts of the device such as camera, speaker, screen etc. The main case of the phone can also be changed, it acts as a protective cover, there is no need to install external protection as normal smartphones. The Fairphone Smartphone cover design enables us to add features such as a rubber rim that wraps around the edge of the glass, protecting the display from the most common causes of screen damage.

This Fairphone 2 concept also allows us to create multiple variations of the cover and company also offer covers with different levels of protection and additional functionality. Changing the case enables the user to effectively get a complete cosmetic refresh of their entire phone, without having to change the costly internals. It can withstand the force of the fall about 2 meters without affecting the internal parts or screen.

With the main purpose of the modularity within the Fairphone 2’s architecture being to enable easy assembly and replacement of subsystems. The standardized electrical interfaces and power distribution still enable for flexibility in replacing some components and functionality.

In terms of the Fairphone 2 Specifications, the device comes with a 5-inch Full-HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 CPU, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory with external MicroSD card slot. The Fairphone 2 is constructed around a number of building blocks such as display, battery, rear camera, front camera, speaker, receiver, microphone, chipset, SIMs and MicroSD card holders and much more.

The company said Fairphone 2 will cost nearly $600.
