Dragon Quest XI Sold over Two Million Copies in just 48 hours in Japan

Dragon Quest XI was launched on July 29 in Japan and according to recent data released by Famitsu, it’s been successful in distributing more than two million copies, in just 48 hours. In fact, a remarkable success, considering that the figure only includes physical sales.

They were exactly 2,080,806 copies have been sold: 1,130,468 copies of 3DS and 950,338 copies of PS4. It seems that the 3DS version dominates the PS4, which wouldn’t be too surprising considering the giant difference in installed base.

However, the excellent result of the launch of the eleventh chapter of the series does not currently match and exceed the sales achieved by previous episodes: Dragon Quest VIII, its debut had sold 2,267,827 copies while Dragon Quest IX had 2,338,221. However, it is good to point out that all data reported by Famitsu do not include digital sales, so digital sales data could revert the result.

We remind you that a few days ago, by publishing a video (above): Yuji Horii officially announced the arrival of Dragon Quest XI in Japan. However, at the moment, no information on its precise release date, but in 2018, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age will be released outside of Japan. While the Nintendo Switch version is still in development.
