After announcing it at the CES 2018 in Las Vegas, the low-cost drone called DJI Tello finally appeared in the Amazon store in the USA. Let’s talk about a project that comes from the collaboration between DJI and Ryze Tech, despite the premise of positioning in the low-end category, has very interesting features.
Tello is a quadcopter weighing just 80 grams, which integrates a 5MP camera able to shoot 720p video at 30fps with EIS stabilization and photos with a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1036 pixels. The processor used by Tello is the same mounted by Spark, the Intel Movidius Myriad 2 VPU.
The supplied battery allows a maximum flight time of up to 13 minutes, thanks to the proprietary application installed on smartphones we can enjoy an HD streaming up to 100 meters away, Wi-Fi control works at 2.4 Ghz. Tello can land and take off on the palm of our hand automatically, although it is not equipped with GPS, it is able to maintain a constant distance from the ground thanks to the VPS system, making it quite easy to drive.
Using application, we can control eight different flips and some flight sequences programmed for video recording with EZ shots mode, ie circle, 360 and up & away, later shared with social networks directly from the smartphone.
This Quadcopter Drone is also available with an SDK that allows to develop specific applications and unique features by developers, it will be interesting to see how the community will move in this regard. Tello is also compatible with third-party gaming handheld controllers so you can easily control the operation of the touch screen.
