Alienware 13 is still the thickest, but this time Dell has changed when it has added the m15 a new version of the thinnest and lightest Alienware gaming laptop series ever. The Dell Alienware m15 also has a slim bezel design and weighs 2.17 kg. The configuration is still very powerful with the 8th Generation Intel Core SoC and the GeForce GTX 1060 or 1070 Max-Q GPU.
This is probably the most stylish Alienware ever made by Dell in term of design is the hybrid between the old and new Alienware models launched back in two years. The exterior is the same with the divider and the featured Alienware logo but its hinge design in the middle of the screen with two joints hinge reminds us the 2012 Alienware series as M17x but with a new Alienware style heatsink, the two sides are looking very cool from the back and it does not protrude either.
Coming to the interior design of the device is also very new because the edge of the 15.6-inch screen makes the laptop as compact as a 14-inch laptop, the keyboard of the m15 is no longer half chiclet as a tradition that has turned into pure chicklet, spectrum Transforms on most modern laptops. Perhaps Dell was forced to replace the old keyboard design in exchange for the thinness of the device. The keyboard also supports RGB lights like the other Alienware series.
The edges are nicely rendered and the ports are reasonably well-matched when most output ports like HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, Thunderbolt 3 and both Amplifier ports are located in the back, between the two heat sinks. Meanwhile, USB 3.0 ports, LANs are located at both the sides.
In terms of configuration, Dell Alienware m15 offers options such as quad-core Core i5-8300H or Core i7-8750H 6 cores with optional GTX 1060 OC GPU or GTX 1070 Max- Q options. The 15.6-inch display also has options such as 60 Hz or 144 Hz or 4 Hz and 60 Hz, with a maximum of 16GB two SO-DIMMs RAM and a maximum of 1TB SSD. Combined SSD and 1TB HDD. A built-in 90Wh battery can be used for up to 17 hours, but obviously, this is the ideal test condition of Dell with most features turned off.
Dell said the m15-based on Cryo-tech 2.0 cooling system with two fans and multiple copper tubes and a thick heatsink that radiated heat back and forth. This copper pipe has dedicated tubes for both the CPU and GPU while the copper foils in the heatsink are very thin, only 0.2 mm thick. This thermal design allows the GPU system to run at full performance without being throttled.
The Dell Alienware m15 price will start at $1,299 and will be available on October 25, 2018.
