Canon RF 600mm F11 IS STM and 800mm F11 IS STM Telephoto Lenses Announced

Along with the Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM and RF 85mm F2 Macro IS STM Lenses, Canon has announced two new telephoto lenses in the RF line of fixed focal length lenses for mirrorless cameras: the Canon RF 600mm F11 IS STM and Canon RF 800mm F11 IS STM.

The RF 600mm F11 IS STM is built of 10 elements in 7 groups, including 1 DO element. The minimum focusing distance is 4.5 m, the maximum magnification is 0.14x. The stabilizer also allows you to win up to five exposure levels. The landing diameter of the filter is 82 mm. A lens with a diameter of 93 mm, a length of 199.5 mm, and weighs 930 g.

The optical design of the RF 800mm F11 IS STM lens has 11 elements in 8 groups, including 1 DO element. The minimum shooting distance is 6.0 m, the maximum magnification is 0.14x. The stabilization system is able to compensate for up to four exposure levels. Filter with a diameter of 95 mm can be mounted on the lens. The lens diameter is 101.6 mm, the length is 281 mm, and weighs 1260 g.

Both super-telephoto lenses have compact and lightweight retractable design and a fixed f/11 aperture. Also contributing to the reduced size is a distinct optical layout, which uses gapless dual-layer diffractive optics instead of multiple heavier individual elements, which also effectively controls color fringing and chromatic aberrations for high clarity.
