Canon faces the world of small action cameras with a very original and colorful proposal: here is the new Ivy Rec. The highlights of this project aren’t lying only in its specifications, but also in the methods chosen by Canon – the world’s leading manufacturer according to the latest data – to carry it out.
Rather than throw themselves headlong into development and then market it as a mass product, Canon has chosen to test the interest of the potential buyers by addressing a crowdfunding platform, more precisely Indiegogo. At the moment, the Canon Ivy Rec price has not yet been announced, however, Canon ensures that the first participants in the campaign will get a 30% discount on the official sale price. But what exactly does Ivy Rec offer?
As you can see from the images, this is an extremely compact and essential camera, able to communicate with the dedicated CanonMini Cam app that will have to be installed on a smartphone. This allows you to see in real time what is framed, otherwise, you can take advantage of the rectangular viewfinder at the end of the cam.
This also turns into a clip, allowing the Ivy Rec to be hooked to clothes, objects, and animals, perhaps to capture something from their point of view. It features a 13-megapixel 1/3-inch CMOS sensor capable of recording 1080 / 60p video.
There is also no lack of water resistance (1 meter for 3 minutes), an anti-shock, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. On the back, we find a rotating wheel that allows you to quickly change how to use, even if the adjustments of the various options must be made from a smartphone, while in the lower part there is a connector for the classic tripods.
There are still many unknown details of the Canon Ivy Rec, and probably these will be shared as soon as the Indiegogo campaign is officially activated.
