Olympus Tough TG-870 has been officially launched at CES 2016; a new travelling camera has a compact design, it is upgraded version of the previous Olympus TG 860 Tough Waterproof Digital Camera. The TG-870 has Tough design as its name suggests, a perfect camera for outdoor or picnic with water, crush, shock, freeze, and dustproof body. The Olympus Tough TG-870 features a 5x optical zoom lens, equivalent to 21-105mm in 35mm terms. According to the statement of Olympus, this is ultra-wide angle lens offers a f/3.5 to 5.7 aperture along with digital image stabilization helps to minimize the vibrations.
This new Tough Olympus Camera has a 3-inch LCD display, a resolution of 920k pixels and can flip up 180 degrees, appropriate to capture selfie. An adjustable display enhanced the brightness and clarity make the TG-870 perfect for underwater and outdoor shooting. There is also Super Macro mode with focusing distance of 1cm, a notable point improvement never appeared on the Stylus Tough line before.
In addition, this new camera comes equipped with a new shooting features, including an LCD brightness boost up to 2.6x, thirteen Art Filters, and the Live Composite mode, among others helps TG-870 for better underwater and outdoor photography.
The Olympus Stylus Tough TG-870 owns 16-megapixel 1/2.3″ BSI CMOS Sensor, is powered by TrueVic VII image processor and 5x optical zoom hybrid lens shift. The device sports a top sensitivity of ISO 6400 and 7 fps shooting rate at full resolution, Full HD 1080p video recording at 60fps; 120 fps and 240 fps high-speed recording.
On connectivity front, the TG-870 includes built-in Wi-Fi and GPS options. By using Olympus Image Share app, you can also remotely control the camera from a smartphone or tablet. The TG-870 is designed to withstand a wide variety of conditions such as Waterproof to depths of 50′ / 15m; Freezeproof to temperatures as low as 14°F / -10°C; Shockproof to falls from 7′ / 2.1m high;
Crushproof to withstand up to 220 lbf / 100kgf of pressure and Dustproof to protect the camera against any harsh conditions.
