Blackmagic Design Atem Mini Pro ISO Live Video Mixer with Multiple Channel Recording

Just recently Blackmagic Design released the Pro version of their affordable live video mixer Atem Mini, and the Atem Mini Pro allows the mixing of up to four different video sources connected via HDMI (cameras, video players, Computer), which is ideal for live video productions and live presentations. The Blackmagic Design Atem Mini Pro, which was newly introduced at the time, also offers the possibility of recording on a USB SSD, streaming to the web and monitoring. We explained the possibilities of both previous models in detail and illustratively in the report at that time.

At the beginning of April 2020 and thus in the middle of the corona virus lockdown, the new Blackmagic Atem Mini Pro model with its streaming capabilities came just in time, because in many places, among other things due to event bans, there was an enormous need to stream events (with several cameras) live on the web.

Blackmagic Design is now expanding its range with a third device: the Atem Mini Pro ISO. The new Blackmagic mini recorder can record up to five separate H.264 video streams in real time. Namely, one clean feed each from all four inputs as well as the live program output. Because a “DaVinci Resolve” project file is also saved, the recorded live production can be opened and post-processed using the Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve video editing Atem mini software. All cuts (hard cuts), transitions and graphics used from the media pool are automatically loaded. In this way, the cuts made live can be refined, individual recordings exchanged, the sound remixed and color grading carried out.

The new Atem Mini Pro ISO is outwardly identical to the Atem Mini Pro launched in April 2020, but it allows the recording of up to five Full HD streams with a suitable storage device. For connections with the four HDMI inputs for cameras and other video sources (computer, video player) and two microphone sockets placed at the right side of the device. On the left you can see the power connection and the Ethernet socket for external control as well as the USB-C and HDMI output.
