In anticipation of the release of the new DJI Mavic Air 2 (the announcement is due April 27, 2020), Autel Robotics has finally announced the sales of its new Autel EVO II drone. Apparently, the company was able to solve the technical problems of the Autel drones, due to which sales have been shifted.
The Autel EVO 2 drone was first introduced at CES 2020 in January, it has interesting characteristics that even outperform a competitor like DJI Mavic 2, for example, due to 40 minutes of flight, versus 31 minutes for Mavic 2.
Autel EVO 2 is available in three configuration levels with various interesting cameras. You can choose from an entry-level model that shoots 8K video. The second version of the 8K camera also adds a thermal imager for search and rescue operations.
Despite the fact that you will not find a large number of 8K monitors for video playback, this resolution makes it possible to crop clear 4K clips or super-magnified HD frames and get 48-megapixel images.
The third version of the camera configuration offers a slightly lower video resolution – 6K and photos up to 20 megapixels. At the same time, this camera equipment is equipped with a 1-inch sensor, which allows you to shoot in low light up to ISO 12 800. And the adjustable aperture of this camera is f/2.8 – f/11.
Also, the Autel EVO2 drone is equipped with obstacle sensors. Separately, it is worth paying attention to the controller. It is equipped with its own LCD screen and can control the drone at a distance of up to 9 km with a continuous video stream.
Price and availability
Autel EVO 2 can be purchased on the Bhphotovideo.com website, and the price starts from $1,495 for the basic package. For a camera with an inch matrix, they will ask for $1,795, but for a camera, with a thermal imager, the price has not yet been announced.
