Asus has introduced a new gigabit router named the RT-AX89X. The gigabit modem is said to offer particularly high performance and has an extravagant design. The transmission is to be managed by a 2.2 GHz quad-core processor, which has a gigabyte memory.
In the meantime, the market for gaming routers has become comparatively differentiated, with video players increasingly becoming the focus of manufacturers as potentially particularly solvent and willing customers. With the Asus RT-AX89X, the brand is clearly aimed at customers who need the best gaming routers with a fast wireless connection, whereby this Gaming WiFi model can also be connected via cable at high speed.
The WiFi 6 is specifically supported, maximum possible data transfer rates are up to 5,333 Mbit / s (802.11ac) and 6,104 Mbit / s (802.11ax). These are the cumulative data transmission rates for the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. Eight external antennas promise good signal quality, whereby MU-MIMO is supported. If desired, the gaming WiFi router also functions as a file server and supports the dual WAN operation.
The 343.64 x 343.64 x 80.02 mm large and 1.28 kg heavy 10 Gigabit ethernet device has a total of eight Ethernet ports, of which an RJ45 connection even supports data transmission at up to 10 Gbit / s. According to the manufacturer, the Gigabit router should also be optimized for operation with numerous simultaneous connections – in typical network environments, several devices are also connected to the Internet at home, each with different requirements for data transmission rate and latency.
Price and availability
Back in June, Asus has made available the B550 motherboard series that it is focused on the creation of mid-budget boards, while it has support for PCIe 4.0, and pricing starts from $134 only.
