Astell & Kern have introduced the Hi-Fi audio music player AK Jr with a price tag of $ 500.
But the emphasis lies in its slim design and weighs only 93g, 8.9 millimeter makes high mobility products. The Astell & Kern AK Jr can play high quality Hi-Fi audio of 24-bit / 96kHz, capable single-rate DSD decoding.
The Astell & Kern AK Jr is based on the hardware of the Astell & Kern AK100 with DAC Wolfson WM8740 chip. Astell & Kern AK Jr has dimensions of 117 x 52.9 mm, it is shorter than 6 mm, narrower than 5.7mm and lighter than 5g compared to the iPod Touch gen5. Compared with AK100 II (170 g), the AK Jr to nearly half, reduced to 6mm thickness. Such a device is quite suitable for pockets with compact and light weight design. It has an aluminum shell case design and same styling as the most advanced Astell & Kern AK240.
The Astell & Kern AK Jr Music Player own touch screen with a 3.1 inches with QVGA resolution, three music button at the left side and volume control circular jog at right side looking very stylish. It supports 64GB of internal memory and extend through microSD memory card slots up to 64GB. With the ability to handle 24-bit / 192kHz Hi-Fi audio, AK Jr capable to play most of popular audio formats.
The Astell and Kern also favor descrambles DSD 2.8 MHz by switching PCM format and then sent to the DAC. An additional feature of this Music Player is the ability to use USB DAC to connect with PC / Mac to transfer audio files better than the sound card on your computer. The device does not support Wi-Fi connections, but integrated Bluetooth 4.0. Connect a 3.5mm headphone with the output impedance to 2 Ohms for a significant gain in sound fidelity
Thus, considering the Astell & Kern AK120 II or AK100 II, AK Jr didn’t support DSD 5.6, Wi-Fi and Balanced audio output. In return for $ 500, the Astell & Kern AK Jr brings a Hi-Fi audio option for high-quality sound.
