Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus Hands-on Video, First Look, and More

Along with the iPhone X, Apple also introduced the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus smartphones, an update of its successful iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Both featuring several new upgrades over last year’s models. While the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 design follow the same design language as their predecessors, they sport a metal and glass bodies.

Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch Retina HD displays respectively and support for Qi wireless charging as well as support for fast charging that can charge the phone up to 50% in 30 minutes. Both devices offer incremental improvements over its predecessors but retain the same form factor and design.

Both new devices are powered by new A11 Bionic chip tuned for augmented reality experience and the six-core CPU has two performance cores that are 25% faster and four efficiency cores that are 70% faster and the three-core GPU offers up to 30% faster graphics performance compared to A10 Fusion.

For optics, the iPhone 8 features a 12-megapixel rear camera with a larger and faster sensor, a new color filter and deeper pixels and quad LED True Tone Flash. While the Apple iPhone 8 Plus has dual 12-megapixel cameras that have Portrait Lighting that uses the dual cameras and the Apple-designed image signal processor to recognize the scene, create a depth map and separate the subject from the background. Machine learning is then used to create facial landmarks and add lighting over contours of the face in real time.

For selfie, both devices come with a similar 7-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture, FHD 1080p video recording, and Retina Flash. Apple says that these have improved display, 25% louder speakers, as well as glass front and back.

The iPhone 8 is priced at $699 for the 64GB version and the 256GB version costs $849 (Rs. 54,345 approx.) and the iPhone 8 Plus is priced at $849 for the 64GB version and the 256GB version costs $949. It will be available for pre-order from September 15 in several countries and goes on sale from September 22. Both handsets come in Silver, Space Gray, and Gold Finish color options.
