Amazon has introduced two new gadgets with voice-controlled assistant Alexa named – Amazon Tap and Amazon Echo Dot. Amazon introduced its “smart” Echo lineup back in 2014, and this series is extended. These new devices Amazon Tap and Echo Dot – designed to amplify the role its voice-controlled assistant Alexa plays in people’s homes and lives, which should provide additional comfort to the user.
Amazon Tap is a portable speakers with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. By taping on the front microphone button to start questioning or give commands to play music, ask for news, search any information, order a pizza, and much more. It has a compact size, slim cylindrical design, easy to grab and place anywhere. The Tap is equipped with dual stereo speakers that provide 360-degree omni-directional audio.
It measures 159 x 66 x 66 mm, and weight only 470 grams. The battery provides up to 9 hours of playback time. Amazon Tap is available for pre-order for $129.99 exclusively via Amazon.com.
Echo Dot focuses entirely on the Alexa, it integrates a tiny speaker that will play only the alarm, does not play music. For music playback you want to connect speakers over Bluetooth or with the included audio cable to play music from Prime Music, Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, and TuneIn. It can be connected using a 3.5 mm cable or Bluetooth to your home audio system and uses the Alexa Voice Service. Echo Dot can hear you from across the room, even while music is playing. When you want to use Echo Dot, just say the wake word “Alexa” and Dot responds instantly.
Furthermore, it is suitable for the role of a voice assistant that is capable of controls smart home devices like lights, switches, thermostats, and more with compatible connected devices from WeMo, Philips Hue, Samsung SmartThings, ecobee, and others. It measures 38 x 84 x 84 mm, and weight only 250 grams. Amazon Echo Dot is available for $89.99, but its being confined to Amazon Prime subscribers who have already bought an Echo or the Amazon Fire TV device.
