Amazon has released the Fire TV Stick Basic Edition for non-Alexa regions. The Basic edition will not have Alexa nor will it have voice control. The rest of the features such as content streaming, app/game settings as well as its configuration are preserved. Strangely, the price of Basic Edition is higher than normal, $49.99 and it can be purchased via Amazon store starting from today.
Amazon Fire TV Stick Basic Edition features an 8GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM, is powered by a quad-core processor and offers support for High-Efficiency Video Codec (HEVC) for great 1080p HD streaming as well as surround sound with Dolby Audio. For connectivity, there is 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and HDMI support.
The Fire Stick TV Basic edition also comes with a remote support and a variety of streaming services such as Netflix, YouTube, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video. Amazon does not say why they sell Basic for a higher price than original.
The Fire TV stick will be available for purchase in more than 100 countries and territories around the world including Canada, France, Italy, and Spain. In addition, customers can set their default language as Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, Italian, German, or English.
