Alcatel A5 LED, A3, U5 phones and Plus 12 Tablet Announced at MWC 2017

Alcatel has unveiled three new smartphones including Alcatel U5, Alcatel A3, the Alcatel A5 LED; and a new Alcatel Plus 12 Windows 10 Tablet at the Mobile World Congress 2017. All three Alcatel smartphones are running Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and will fall into the budget price segment. Despite its modest specifications, the manufactures have tried as much as possible to attract the attention of users adding few extra and useful functions, as well as some new features in the design. Alcatel-U5

Alcatel U5

Alcatel U5 positioned as the most affordable smartphone with a 5-inch IPS LCD display with 854×480 pixels resolution and 4G LTE support. It is powered by a 1.1 GHz quad-core processor that’s backed by the MediaTek MT6737M SoC coupled with 1GB of RAM.

The device comes with 8GB of native storage which can be further expandable via micro SD-card. Alcatel U5 has a 5-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash, and packs in 2050mAh battery.

Looking at the stated specifications, it is expected that the Alcatel U5 price will be relatively modest. At the moment, the company does not disclose the exact sale date and the approximate price of the device.

Alcatel A3

Like the previous model, Alcatel A3 received a 5-inch screen, but with HD (1280×720 pixels) resolution. The smartphone is equipped with quad-core MT6737 processor clocked at 1.25 GHz, 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, expandable using microSD card. Alcatel A3 also received a battery capacity of 2460 mAh, the rear camera is 13 megapixels and a 5 megapixels front-facing camera. The Alcatel A3 price and selling date are unknown currently.

Alcatel A5 LED

Finally, the most interesting and the hero of the presentation is the Alcatel A5 LED smartphone. Main highlight of the device is its LED panel back that lights up with multi-colors in different patterns as well. The LED back cover is removable and the company is also offering other cover options including a battery pack and a speaker back.

“With the A5 LED, Alcatel is delivering new fun features, like light-up notifications and unique LED cover patterns and themes you create yourself, as well as an enhanced multimedia experience and more ways to take and share selfies, ideal for people who value having fun and letting their personality shine,” William Dowie, portfolio management director at Alcatel, was quoted as saying in company’s release. Alcatel-A5-LED

Alcatel A5 LED features a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with HD (1280×720 pixels) resolution. It is powered by 1.5 GHz octa-core processor that’s fueled by the MediaTek MT6753 chipset clubbed with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, the microSD card slot, an 8-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front camera and 2800mAh battery.

Alcatel A5 LED becomes the most expensive model among all three devices presented at MWC 2017, but the cost of the smartphone was not disclosed.

Alcatel Plus 12

Alcatel Plus 12 is 2-in-1 tablet and features a 11.6-inch IPS LCD display with full-HD resolution. It is powered by an Intel Celeron N3350 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB eMMC + 32GB embedded microSD storage which is also expandable up to 128GB with the help of microSD card. It packs a 26.8WHr battery and for connectivity options including WiFi, USB Type-C, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a Micro-HDMI port. alcatel plus 12

Along with the company has also introduced a keyboard accessory for the tablet that connect via pogo pins. The keyboard has its own Qualcomm MDM9207 SoC, 128MB of RAM and a 2580mAh battery. It features a full-size USB-A port along with 4G LTE functionality serves as a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 15 devices. It measures 284x175x7.9mm.
